Have you always wanted to plant your own garden but aren’t sure how to start it? How many times have you brought home flowers from a florist or store and thought “I wish I could grow my own flowers”? How often do you think “I bet if I grew my own fruits and veggies they would taste better and I’d save some money” when you are standing in the produce section at the grocery store? How often do you think about growing your own herb garden to save money? How many times do you look at your apartment or house and think “there’s no way a garden can fit in here!” The great news is that you can plant your garden just about where ever you want even if you want to plant it inside. Here are some tips and tricks to help you begin your garden.
Try not to let your seedlings dry out all the way. While it is true that some plants thrive in dry soil conditions that does not mean that they can go without being watered at all. All seedlings need to be watered. You don’t have to create muddy conditions, of course, but a little moisture is required to keep your seedlings alive. The type of plants you are trying to raise will dictate the amount of water that you need to provide to help your garden thrive. Before you put your seedlings in the garden learn how much and how often they need to be watered. You don’t want your plants to drown or dry out! The majority of gardening activities are little more than following a schedule. As time goes on you will figure out your own routine and learn instinctively how best to care for your garden every day. You will learn when to do the weeding, how to check to make sure the garden is not drying out, when to add nutrients and when to add compost to your garden. Let yourself develop a schedule and then stick to it. The reason many new gardeners accidentally kill their gardens is because they get bored and they either stop caring about or they don’t realize just how much work needs to be done to keep their gardens alive.
Don’t spend a bunch of money on tools from the garden department just because you see them by the register. Begin with the basics: a hose, a rake and a spade and then let your collection grow naturally from there. Over time, as you work with your plants, you’ll figure out which tools you actually use regularly and which are only used for special projects. Try to resist buying a bunch of things that the garden department clerk tries to convince you that you need but that you probably won’t ever use. You might wind up tossing a bunch of money away on tools that you won’t ever use! Gardening is a great way to have fun outdoors as an adult. Many people insist that working in the garden is a fantastic way to work through most of the stress that they feel after the end of a long work day. Others say that gardening is just fun for them. Other people garden because it helps them save money on food they would otherwise have to buy at the store (fruits, veggies, etc). There are many different reasons to start a garden. Don’t forget that even though gardening involves lots of work, it also provides you with lots of enjoyment.
I’ve been producing articles and other content for many years now and have a range of interests particularly product reviews, health and also nutrition. I also run multiple personal blogs and web sites, how to naturally improve eyesight being my most recent effort. In my opinion , writing is a gift, something to be shared and enjoyed with others.
